In addition to providing research and education opportunities for healthcare professionals, the library is open to the public and has a large consumer information section, with books, newsletters, and Internet resources for the patients and family members.

The library is staffed by a full-time professional librarian with a Master's Degree in Library & Information Science who is a member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP).
